Two great Green Mountain rivers... the ambiance of Three Stallion Inn... lively water, mountain and meadow scenery, rapids and pools. They all constitute a rare collection of elements that blend together for a speciacular two days.

The White River comes down the east slope of the mountains, and is amoung the top canoeing rivrs in all of New England. The Winooski cuts right through the center of the mountains and is a slow beautiful river with wonderful views.

We gather at the Three Stallion Inn, a Vermont country inn situated on 1200 acres of the Green Mountain Stock Farm. Three Stallion is a perfect retreat, off the road and isolated with lawns, high meadows, and flower gardens. The swimming pool, sauna and hot tubs encourage us to enjoy our days to the utmost, with the promise that our spirits will be soothed in the evening. Usually we are off the next morning to the Winooski, a name given by the Abenaki Indians that means "wild onion". A lot of the time the paddling will be lazy, with time out for "entrance Rapid" (we guarantee everyone will pass) and then onto Tire Iron. Our second day will be on the White. It’s a clean, bouldery and handsome stream, alternately broad and narrow, in a picturesque unspoiled valley. The White is one of the most beloved canoe runs in all of New England; white as its name in the spring, varied, lively and sweet in the summer, and spectacular in the fall colors, and always with sparkling clear water. We’ll find mountains, boulders, gravel bars, riffles, rapids, quiet pools, ledges and more ledges with water so clear you can see fish 15 feet below. The perfect trip for those wanting a bit more excitment, but who may not be ready for more difficult whitewater.
